In the winter of 2020 reportedly six homeless people died of hypothermia. DCB is making an effort to prevent such a bleak death from reoccurring in the future. Detroit alone has a homelessness count of nearly 1,500 that need to survive this winter. Join us in keeping the homeless warm all year long.
Detroit Coat Bank has set values in order to lay the foundation for our cultural environment and motivation.
We value prosperity because we’re confident in our ability to thrive and successfully provide the homeless with materials for winter.
We value mitigation, problem solving early on is key. Finding the best solution to alleviate and resolve issues that the homeless experience.
We value community and the sense of togetherness. We believe in Detroits ability to improve our community. Through community service we can make Detroit better.
Our mission for the homeless is to prevent hypothermia by providing the homeless with winter essentials. A combination of local charity events and donated coats (paired with fresh gloves, socks, and hats) can prevent hypothermia. Through local coat donations and charity events we can achieve our goal in providing the homeless with winter essentials. Detroit Coat Bank is in the process of finding practical solutions for our agenda.
Our mission for both our donors and volunteers is to provide them with needed resources or incentives. We strive to care for our volunteers in every way we possibly can because charity starts in house first. Utilizing our resources in a multitude of ways and creatively finding solutions that bring the community together is our target mission
